WARDEN CLEARED AFTER RIOT CLAIMED SEVEN LIVES
FAMILIES CALL VERDICT A MOCKERY
Warden Julius Illder walked free yesterday following the conclusion of the months-long trial concerning the prison riot that left seven inmates dead inside the walls of Tartarus Detention Complex.
The court ruled that evidence presented against Illder failed to prove direct responsibility for the deaths. Witness accounts describing delayed intervention, excessive force by guards, and repeated warnings about worsening conditions inside the prison were ultimately deemed insufficient.
Outside the courthouse, anger was immediate.
"He signed the orders. He controlled the place. Seven people died and nobody is responsible?" one family member shouted before security removed protesters from the front steps.
For many citizens, this case joins a growing list of incidents surrounding Tartarus that have quietly faded into legal dead ends. Questions remain unanswered. Internal complaints disappeared. Witnesses changed statements. Reports arrived incomplete.
Officially, justice has spoken.
Still, across Arkhaven, there is a feeling difficult to ignore, that justice may have arrived for someone, just not for the dead
